About the event

This comprehensive training is tailored for professionals responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing targeted violence. The training will focus on critical areas, including lone actor attacks, stalking, domestic violence, and individuals who make threats to kill. Targeted violence is characterized by offending directed toward a specific victim or group, someone or something of symbolic significance, or, in some cases, an accessible and available proxy victim group.

Whether in the criminal justice sector or corporate settings, there is a growing need to prevent violence and identify persons of concern. This training will address current issues and evolving approaches in the field of targeted violence. Best practice approaches to threat assessment and management will be examined, along with effective and defensible strategies to assess and manage threats.

Participants will gain a deep understanding of the fundamentals of threat assessment, learning to make informed, high-stakes decisions in complex and potentially volatile situations. The training will emphasise practical approaches to effectively managing and mitigating threats, with the application of assessment and management techniques explored through multiple case examples.

By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of preventing and responding to targeted violence. This intermediate-level training is broadly applicable to professionals in policing, corrections, mental health, security, academia, and students.
